With long time manufacturers like Subaru and Siemens in the area, as well as newcomer GE, along with Purdue University, growth within the area is rapid. A major revitalization initiative within the downtown area is underway. Sidewalks and streets will be torn out and improved all along the Main Street corridor. While ultimately providing a needed update to the look of this historic avenue, there will be teething pains. Some businesses will loose some visibility, while other may see a decline in foot traffic during the construction.
