The small city of Lafayette, Indiana is quickly becoming a big city. With long time manufacturers like Subaru and Siemens in the area, as well as newcomer GE, along with Purdue University, growth within the area is rapid. A major revitalization initiative within the downtown area is underway. Sidewalks and streets will be torn out and improved all along the Main Street corridor. While ultimately providing a needed update to the look of this historic avenue, there will be teething pains. Some businesses will loose some visibility, while other may see a decline in foot traffic during the construction.

The City of Lafayette used a varied marketing team including Indiana Design Consortium and Maxiumedia to create a campaign to bolster the businesses who will be required to cope during the construction. A dedicated website, among other multi-media pieces, will be used to promote the message that Main Street is alive, well, and “Open for Business” during construction. The following are some of the images to be used to highlight the people and products represented by the stores of downtown Lafayette.
